About Us
Ballarat High School educates students from year 7 – 12 with a strong focus on providing a place of opportunity, excellence and connection.
Duty Always has been a long recognised and celebrated motto since our school’s early beginnings in 1907. We embrace our duty to provide excellent educational opportunities for our students, and together, we see it as our collective duty to create positive connections with each other, our peers and our community.
Our research-based approach highlighted that strong student/teacher relationships are key to positive outcomes. Our structure has been developed in line with this, allowing teachers longer blocks of time with students, enabling connections and mutual understanding to develop.
Our teaching approach, and associated curriculum, is designed to suit the evolving needs of our students as they mature and progress through their secondary education years.
Our core curriculum is further bolstered by our extensive sporting program, as a recognised Specialist Sport School, our musical, debating and performance opportunities, and our international exchange program, delivered with our sister schools in Germany and Japan.
We are committed to developing the whole person. We educate and grow the knowledge and learning capabilities of our students, but we are equally focused on their overall wellbeing. Our team leaders’ and teachers’ vested interest in our students’ progress is further supported by our Student Wellbeing team.
Connection with families is integral to our approach and we encourage the active involvement of parents and carers to support Ballarat High School’s ongoing development, and most importantly, your child’s learning.
