Rowing
Ballarat High School is one of the few Australian government schools to be fortunate enough to provide a rowing program. We also operate our own boat shed, which celebrated its 50th year in 2024, on Lake Wendouree.
As with our Specialist Sports Program, this program provides opportunities, encourages the pursuit of excellence and helps students connect, both within our school community, and with the broader community.
Participating students will learn the technical and physical skills associated with rowing, be equipped with the nutritional information they need to succeed, and will also develop a host of transferrable skills, like responsibility, commitment, resilience, leadership, communication and sportsmanship.
Our pre-season training commences in Term 3 each year with training and regattas taking place throughout Term 4 and Term 1. Students will have the opportunity to compete at a school, state and national level.
Involvement is possible in the form of rowing, coaching or supporting. All rowing coaches are supplied by the school and will have the required Working with Children checks and safety knowledge.
